APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR HYBRID ARQ SIGNALLING IN BROADBAND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for HARQ(Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest) signaling in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to reduce overhead due to signaling when performing HARQ by using fixedly allocated resources. A method for HARQ signaling in a broadband wireless communication system includes the steps of performing resource scheduling(501), determining whether new FA(Fixed Allocation) is generated(503), determining correlation between an FA terminal and a New/Rtx bitmap to generate re-transmission bitmap information(505), generating an FA message(507), transmitting the FA message to a frame at which the FA is started(509), transmitting HARQ packets to the FA terminals(511), and checking whether an FA period is expired(523).
