DIGITAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREOF

A digital broadcast system and a method thereof are provided to allow an advertiser or a service provider to transfer detailed information about products and to maximize an advertisement effect. When a promotion message is transmitted, a data broadcast server(304) maps link information to the promotion message and outputs the same, and generates and outputs file information of the promotion message. A PSI/SI(Program Specific Information)/(Service Information) server(306) receives the file information of the promotion message from the data broadcast server, and outputs a PSI table and an SI table according to the file information. A transmitting unit(308) transmits the promotion message received from the data broadcast server, and the PSI table and the SI table received from the PSI/SI server. The link information-mapped promotion message is transmitted by using an idle band of a broadcast channel.
