THE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR KEY PAD INPUT USING WEIGHTED VECTOR MATRIX

A key pad input system and method using a weighted vector technique are provided to input data efficiently with a minimum number of key pads in a system having a restricted number of key pads. A key pad input system includes an input unit(30), a memory unit(10), a central processing unit(20), and an output unit(40). The input unit has character keys, numeral keys or direction keys. The memory unit stores X, Y and Z coordinate values corresponding to data inputted to the input unit and characters corresponding to the coordinate values. The central processing unit gives a weight to data inputted to the input unit and compares the data with data stored in the memory unit. The output unit displays data output from the central processing unit as a character.
