A method for controlling an electromotive power steering system is provided to improve safety by additionally exerting a steering angel restoring force when taking a U-turn. A method for controlling an electromotive power steering system comprises the steps: sensing speed of the vehicle and judging whether detected speed is lower than a predetermined set speed(S1); sensing steering angle and judging whether sensed steering angle is over a predetermined angle to one direction(S3); judging whether speed of the vehicle is increased or not(S4); and additionally applying steering angle restoring force if increased speed is sensed(S5).
