An apparatus and a method for managing contents are provided to insert a user's feelings or importance in contents in order to efficiently retrieve or manage contents according to inserted values. An apparatus for managing contents comprises an insertion part(110), a classification part(120), a storage part(130), an output part(150), and a deletion part(140). The insertion part inserts feeling tags or importance tags in some contents in order to express a user's feelings or to indicate the importance of contents. The classification part classifies the contents according to the values of the inserted feeling or importance tags. The storage part stores the classified contents and the values of the feeling or importance tags corresponding to the contents. The output part outputs contents containing a feeling or importance tag on the screen. In case the number of the contents stored according to the values of feeling or importance tags exceeds a critical number, the deletion part deletes the contents.
