PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smelting reduction method capable of increasing the amount of a low-price ore by increasing the total heat generating amount in a furnace, without bringing about heavy melting damage of refractory. SOLUTION: An ore feeding lance for feeding a powdery and granular ore into an iron bath-type smelting reduction furnace is installed separately from an upward blowing lance for supplying an oxidizing gas installed on the axis of the iron bath-type smelting reduction furnace, and also a burner equipped with an ore flowing hole at the tip end of the ore feeding lance and constituted of a jetting hole for blowing fuel and oxygen is installed. Ore is fed into the iron bath-type smelting reduction furnace in such a way that the ore passes through the inside of the flame generated from the burner. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
