PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method which enables the easy manufacture of a hollow fiber membrane element that has uniform separation performance and filtration performance where hollow fiber membranes are uniformly disposed and is also excellent in solvent resistance and mechanical property and a hollow fiber membrane module using the same scarcely affected by the temperature of an atmosphere. SOLUTION: A narrow thermoplastic resin is supplied between a press roller and is impregnated in a knitted woven fabric in the warp direction of a hollow fiber membrane knitted woven fabric where woof includes the hollow fiber membrane, and the resin is cured to allow the hollow fiber membrane to be embedded and fixed, thereby forming a strip-like resin fixing section 3. Thereafter, the knitted woven fabric is cut at a predetermined dimension to form a resin-held hollow fiber membrane sheet 1 having the section 3 where the hollow fiber membrane is opened at one end edge. A number of sheets 1 are stacked to form a hollow fiber membrane stack, The resin fixing section is fusion bonded to obtain the hollow fiber membrane element 6.
