Disclosed is a method for detecting COX-2 for the purpose of diagnosing the clinical stage of colorectal cancer. Also disclosed is a kit for the diagnosis of the clinical stage of colorectal cancer, which comprises COX-2. Specifically disclosed is a method for detecting COX-2 for the purpose of diagnosing the clinical stage of colorectal cancer, which comprises the steps of: a) collecting and lyophilizing feces; b) homogenizing the lyophilized feces in the presence of a ribonuclease inhibitor to prepare a suspension; c) extracting RNA from an RNA extraction sample produced in the proceeding step; d) reverse-transcribing the extracted RNA to produce cDNA; e) amplifying the cDNA; f) detecting the amplified cDNA; g) determining the amount of the detected cDNA; and h) determining as to which clinical stage the amount of the cDNA falls into.
