The system has an indexer for collecting data i.e. medical data, coming from an external network and data leaving a local network. A querier is provided for querying the local network and viewing data from the networks. A synchronizer/merger is provided for synchronizing data changes between the networks. A unified index data repository (50) is provided for storing the data and the data changes of the networks. The synchronizer/merger synchronizes the data when the external network is in one of a connected state and a disconnected state. An independent claim is also included for a method for synchronizing data in a set of networks.
