<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect deterioration of catalyst by estimating absolute value of degree of deterioration of an exhaust emission control catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst deterioration detection sensor 100 comprises; solid electrolyte 40 having oxygen ion conductivity; a heater 42 heating the solid electrolyte 40; a first electrode part 20 formed on an outer surface of the solid electrolyte 40 and having catalyst 22 having same components as deterioration measured catalyst applied thereon; a second electrode part 30 formed on the outer surface of the solid electrolyte 40 and having no catalyst applied thereon; a reference electrode part 10 formed on an inner surface of the solid electrolyte 40; an electric potential difference detection part 50 detecting electric potential difference V<SB>1</SB>between the first electrode part 20 and the reference electrode part 10 and electric potential difference V<SB>2</SB>between the second electrode part 30 and the reference electrode part 10; and a control part 52 detecting degree of deterioration of the catalyst by comparing electric potential difference V<SB>1</SB>and electric potential difference V<SB>2</SB>output from the electric potential difference detection part 50. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
