<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain techniques to accurately detect the drive temperature of a self-luminous element. <P>SOLUTION: First, either pixel data for display or pixel data for temperature detection is selectively supplied to an EL element at a specified position in a plurality of EL elements constituting an effective pixel region, where a lead out wiring line of an anode potential is formed. Then, the EL element at the specified position is driven to emit light by the pixel data for temperature detection, and a voltage appearing between the electrodes of the EL element is detected. After that, the detected voltage is converted into a pixel temperature on the basis of the correspondence relationship between detected voltages and pixel temperatures, which is measured in advance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
