<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifier for an internal combustion engine equipped with novel structure capable of effectively purifying exhaust gas without accompanying cost increase of a product. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust gas purifier C for an internal combustion engine is for removing harmful components in exhaust gas G by a catalytic reaction in a passage of the exhaust gas G in the internal combustion engine. At least three catalyst units (1A, 1B, 1C) are provided in series in the exhaust gas passage.
