PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device having a state detecting means whose layout is reduced in ristriction by arranging one magnetic sensor in a case having an operation part and two magnets in a case having a display part. SOLUTION: The portable terminal device 1 comprises an operation part side casing 2, a display part side casing 3, a coupling part 4 which couples the operation part side casing 2 and a display part side casing 3 so that they are opened and closed and rotatable, and a state detecting means capable of detecting the opened/closed state and a top/reverse state in the closed state. The state detecting means has one Hall element 6 disposed in the operation part side casing 2, and one magnet 7 disposed in the display part side casing 3 and generating a different magnetic force for the Hall element 6.
