An imaging apparatus in which the air in a space formed in the lens-barrel is prevented from expanding through temperature rise and having adverse effect on the optical performance by a simple arrangement. The imaging apparatus comprises a lens-barrel for holding an optical member directly or indirectly, a package sensor for containing an image sensor, and a shield case formed of a metal for covering the lens-barrel. An airtight space surrounded by the optical member, the lens-barrel and the package sensor is formed by bonding the optical member and the lens-barrel, and the lens-barrel and the package sensor with an adhesive, thereby sealing the gaps, a vent for ventilating the airtight space to the outside of the lens-barrel is formed in the lens-barrel, and the opening of the vent is covered with the shield case.
