The machine unit has a drive (100) e.g. gas turbine, which includes a main shaft, and a work machine (106) e.g. compressor, having a drive shaft. A hydrodynamic coupling (103) is connected between the drive and the work machine. A mechanical coupling (104) is connected parallel to the hydrodynamic coupling, and a half of the mechanical coupling is connected with the main shaft of the drive in a torque proof manner. Another half of the mechanical coupling is connected with the drive shaft of the work machine in a torque proof manner.
