The device (10) has clamping jaws (12a, 12b) for applying a clamping force on a sack e.g. material sack, that is arranged between the jaws. A clamping device (14) e.g. shearing mechanism, exerts a force on the jaws, where the jaws, clamping device and carrier units (16a, 16b) are formed for clamping the sack based on weight of the sack. The clamping device has bars (20a, 20b) of equal length crossing from each other and pivotable against each other in bearings (24a, 24b), where the jaws are fastened to an end of the bars. The jaws and/or the clamping device are made from wood and/or plastic. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a sack system comprises a sack carrying device (2) a method for carrying a sack.
