PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red light emitting device having high luminance, on the excitation by electric beam having≤15 kV accelerating voltage and 0.1-20μs irradiation time. SOLUTION: The red light emitting device mainly consists of an yttrium acid sulfide fluorescent substance activated with trivalent Eu and is excited by electric beam having≤15 kV accelerating voltage and 0.1-20μs irradiation time and emits red light and the content of elements other than elements constituting a fluorescent substance matrix existing on the surface of the fluorescent substance and an activating agent is <1 wt.%.
