PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical glass which has a low Tg and a small coefficient of linear expansion, and is free of a lead compound, an arsenic compound and a fluorine compound and is suitable for mold press forming, and an optical device. SOLUTION: The optical glass has each of the following glass components by weight%; SiO<SB>2</SB>: 10-35%, B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>: 8-30%, Li<SB>2</SB>O: 4-9%, ZnO: 26-40%, La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>: 1-25%, Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>: 6-22%, Gd<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>: 0-10%, Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>: 0-10%, TiO<SB>2</SB>: 0-10%. ZrO<SB>2</SB>: 0-10%. CaO: 0-7%, BaO: 0-10% and Sb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>: 0-1%, and has a refractive index (nd) of 1.69 to 1.74, a Abb number (νd) of 40-45, a glass transition temperature (Tg) of≤500°C and a coefficient of linear expansion (α) of≤95×10<SP>-7</SP>/K at a temperature of 100-300°C.
