PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite fiber having a strong bonding force between a fiber and a powdery material and having a sufficient loading amount of the powdery material, and a molded material by using the same. SOLUTION: This composite fiber is provided by fixing the powdery material on the surface of a fiber material. The powdery material is fixed on the surface of the fiber material without using a binder, or fixed by≤25 mass% or more of a binder to the mass of the composite fiber on the surface of the fiber material. The fixing rate of the powdery material is≥40%. It is preferable that the surface of the fibrous material is continuously covered by the powdery material. Especially, it is preferable that the powdery material covers the surface of the fibrous material with a thickness larger than the mean particle diameter of the powdery material-constituting particles.
