PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose ester fiber containing a decreased amount of free carboxylic acids such as acetic acid and propionic acid, and having decreased odor and good color. SOLUTION: The cellulose ester fiber has a specific surface area of 0.01-1.0 m2/g and a b-value as an index of hue of 0-7 and is composed mainly of a cellulose ester having a free carboxylic acid content of≤35 ppm and containing a 3-19C acyl group as at least a part of the ester side chain.
