The method involves transmitting a driver's wish by an electric and/or electronic interface in such a manner that a notched disc takes a position, which is dependent of an actuation of a circuit selector lever. The electric and/or electronic interface is connected between the circuit selector lever and an automatic gearbox, where the driver's wish controls and/or regulates a function of the automatic gearbox by a gear control device. The driver's wish is determined at the notched disc of the gearbox by a position sensor of the gearbox.
