The engine has a vegetable oil tank (10) and a diesel tank (12) that are selectively connected with a fuel injection system (16). The system has a recycling line (40) for a non-injected fuel i.e. vegetable oil. The line has a temperature sensor (48) to detect the temperature of the fuel, and a switching valve (42) to selectively connect the line with the tank (10) or the fuel injection system. A control unit controls the valve below and above a preset temperature level, to return the fuel into the fuel injection system and the tank (10) respectively.
