The valve (1) has a valve member (2) for releasing and closing an injection opening (4) arranged in a valve seat (3). An armature (8) and a pretensioning unit are connected with the valve member to provide a pretensioning force to the valve member. The valve member has a valve needle (2b), which has a supply channel (20) and a transverse opening (21) to supply a fluid under pressure to a pressure chamber (6). A sealing is arranged at an outer side of the valve member to separate the pressure chamber from the armature. The fluid is guided over the supply channel and the transverse opening.
