A pump (100) is provided comprising an internal power fluid column (140) and a transfer piston (120), which is reciprocatingly mounted about the powe r fluid column (140). The transfer piston (120) defines a product fluid cham ber (130), located above the transfer piston valve (126), and a transfer cha mber (110), located below the transfer piston valve (126). The power fluid c olumn (140) comprises at least one passageway (146), which allows the fluid inside the power fluid column (140) to be in communication with a power flui d chamber (150). The power fluid chamber (150), the transfer chamber (110) a nd the product chamber (130) are located coaxially about the power fluid col umn (140).
