<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device which can conrol power of light source correctly, and an optical recording medium drive unit thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device is provided with; a first light source 1 and a second light source 5 which emit laser beams of predetermined wave lengths; an optical detector 17 which detects intensity of the laser beam emitted by the first light source 1 or the second light source 5 in order to control power of the laser beam emitted from the first light source 1 or the second light source 5; a wide band 1/4 wavelength plate 10 which converts the laser beam emitted from the first light source 1 or the second light source 5 into the circularly polarized light laser beam; and a first rising mirror 12 and a second rising mirror 13 which guide the laser beam of an S polarized light component different from a P polarized component to an optical recording medium 19, while guiding the laser beam of the P polarized component contained in the laser beam of the circularly polarized light converted by the wide band 1/4 wavelength plate 10 to the optical detector 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
