PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase throughput in image formation, and to improve image quality. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a fixing member; a pressure member disposed in contact with the fixing member; a first temperature detecting section for detecting the temperature of the fixing member; a heating element for heating the fixing member; a power supply control section 34 for controlling supply of power to the heating element; a driving section for rotating the fixing member; and a control section 30 for controlling the power supply section 34 and driving section on the basis of the temperatures of the fixing member and pressure member before the start of rotation. Since the control section 30 controls the power supply control section 34 and driving section on the basis of the temperatures of the fixing member and pressure member before the start of rotation, the occurrences of abnormal states such as cold offset can be suppressed. When the temperature of the fixing member falls within a fixable temperature range, the operation of image formation can be started without warming up the apparatus. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
