A process for producing a glass substrate for magnetic disk, in which the dimensional error of inside diameter can be lowered. The process for producing a glass substrate for magnetic disk is one comprising the chemical strengthening step of bringing each of multiple glass substrates (102) into contact with the chemical strengthening treatment liquid in any one selected from among multiple chemical strengthening treatment tanks (130) to thereby attain chemical strengthening of the glass substrates, further comprising the inside diameter measuring step of measuring the inside diameter of each of multiple glass substrates (102) before the chemical strengthening step; the grasping step of grasping the variation of inside diameter of glass substrates (102) caused by the chemical strengthening step for each of the multiple chemical strengthening treatment tanks (130); and the combination determining step of, on the basis of the variations, determining individual chemical strengthening treatment tanks (130) with which chemical strengthening is carried out so that the inside diameters after the chemical strengthening step of multiple glass substrates whose inside diameters have been measured become desired values, wherein in the chemical strengthening step, chemical strengthenings of multiple glass substrates (102) are carried out by determined respective chemical strengthening treatment tanks (130).
