<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an image deteriorates at a part where no mosquito noise is generated because all edge parts of an image signal are filtered. <P>SOLUTION: Intensities of horizontal and vertical edges of a luminance signal of an image area are measured, and horizontal and vertical edge intensity data are stored for one frame in an edge intensity map memory 102. Based upon the edge intensity data, a removal flag specifying a block to be filtered is calculated and stored in a removal flag map memory 104. For the block specified with the removal flag, a filter controller 105 controls whether to filter and output a color difference signal block corresponding to a current frame of the image by a horizontal filter 106 or 2D filter 107 based upon horizontal and vertical edge intensity data of the current frame and horizontal and vertical edge intensity data of the previous frame. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
