PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transient of a color difference signal of which a sampling rate is low, like 4:2:2, with respect to a luminance signal. SOLUTION: A color transient correction apparatus comprises: a UV selection pulse generating means which outputs a UV selection pulse from an input synchronizing signal; a color difference signal separating means which separates a time-division multiplexed input color difference signal into a first intermediate color difference signal and a second intermediate color difference signal based on the UV selection pulse; a weight coefficient calculating means which operates out a weight coefficient from an input luminance signal; a first interpolation means which interpolates the first intermediate color difference signal based on the weight coefficient and outputs the first output color difference signal; and a second interpolation means which interpolates the second intermediate color difference signal based on the weight coefficient and outputs the second output color difference signal.
