PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit for common use between a 100V system and a 200V system, which is improved in safety. SOLUTION: The power unit has: a diode circuit 11 which rectifies the input voltage from a commercial AC power source 3; a pair of capacitors C1 and C2 which smoothes the rectified output of the diode bridge circuit 11; a reset switch 12 which switches a switch 15 that connects the diode bridge circuit 11 with a pair of capacitors C1 and C2 by an exciting coil 14 for generating magnetic force, being supplied with current, from a short circuit state to an open state; and a reset switch control circuit 13 which performs the switching between a full wave rectifier system and a voltage doubler rectifier system by supplying the exciting coil 14 with a current, according to the output voltage of the diode bridge circuit 11.
