PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for stably producing a solid matter having a recessed shape on the surface thereof, for which the application to various industrial fields is expected, at an extremely low cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing solid matter having recessed shape on surface is characterized in that when a hydrophilic solvent is defined as a solvent A and a hydrophobic solvent is defined as a solvent B, the solid matter is produced by using at least the solvent A, the solvent B and a polymer compound which is soluble in the solvent B, and the boiling point of the solvent A is not lower than the boiling point of the solvent B and total mass of the solvent B is≥50 mass% based on the total weight of solvents contained in the solution and the solution is solidified while forming a recessed shape by dew condensation on the surface of the solution in a process in which either one or both of the solvent A and the solvent B contained in the solution evaporate.
