PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause a flat shock-absorbing spacer for transportation to be lighter than its conventional spacer, easily transported and concurrently to cause the spacer to be easily fixed to a cargo, and to enable one-man operation to be carried out for it. SOLUTION: There is provided a shock-absorbing spacer 1 made of polyolefin foamed resin, wherein the surface of the spacer in contact with a cargo is provided with through holes 3 enabling an operator to perform a visual acknowledgement of its opposite surface, through holes 4 becoming handles are opened at the surface to facilitate a carrying operation for the spacer, through holes 5 becoming means for transmitting information such as characters, symbols etc. are opened at the spacer to cause themselves to be easily read, rope inserting through holes 6 are opened to provide means enabling the cargo to be fixed with rope.
