<p>An intermediate plate section (31b) has a smaller thickness than a stopper section (31a). The thickness of that portion of a cylinder head gasket (20) which has the stopper section (31a) is set greater than the thickness of other portions of the cylinder head gasket (20). Before the cylinder head gasket (20) is installed between joint surfaces (12a, 13a), there is a gap (S) between the stopper section (31a) and an adjustment stopper section (32a), at least a portion of the intermediate plate section (31b) is in contact with an adjustment plate section (32b), and a bead (33a) is in contact with the adjustment plate section (32b).</p>
