摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that provides a high efficiency light source capable of converting wavelengths for approximately the whole light from a laser light source and contributes to reduction of scintillation, and an illumination device, a monitor device and an image display device. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device comprises: a laser light source 10; a wavelength conversion element 12; wavelength selecting elements 14, 16 that are placed on the optical path of the harmonic wave laser beam 20 emitted from the laser light source 10 and converted by the wavelength conversion element 12, select fundamental wave laser beams 18a, 18b to return to the wavelength conversion element 12, and transmit harmonic wave laser beams 20, 22. The optical path of the fundamental laser beams 18a, 18b includes an onward path and a backward path, in which the onward path is placed on an optical path emitted from the laser light source 10 to enter the wavelength selecting elements 14, 16 by way of the wavelength conversion element 12, the backward path is placed in an optical path exiting from the wavelength selecting elements 14, 16 and entering the wavelength conversion element 12, and the onward path and the backward path pass through different regions from each other in the wavelength conversion element 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p>
