<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance by providing first and second expansion valves in respective cycles of an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, and selectively using each expansion valve in accordance with operation conditions or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The air conditioner is provided with the outdoor unit cycle 10 having a compressor, a four-way valve, an outdoor fan, and an outdoor heat exchanger, the indoor unit cycle 11 having an indoor fan, and an indoor heat exchanger, and a coolant connection piping 6 connecting the cycles. The first expansion valve 5 is provided in the outdoor unit cycle 10, the second expansion valve 25 is provided in the indoor unit cycle 11, and on the basis of the operation conditions such as cooling operation or heating operation, or an operation environment or the like of the air conditioner, selective use of pressure reducing opening operation of the first expansion valve 5 and the second expansion valve 25 is carried out. By carrying out full-opening operation of the first expansion valve 5 and pressure reducing opening operation of the second expansion valve 25 as basic operation, the coolant connection piping 6 is utilized as one part of outdoor heat exchanger during cooling operation and heating operation, and the air-conditioning performance of the air conditioner is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
