The method involves draining a fuel storage (2) of an injection system (3) of an internal combustion engine (1) of a vehicle i.e. motor vehicle, by extracting the fuel from the storage. An injection valve (4) of the injection system is brought into an opening position for ventilating the injection system, while extracting the fuel from the storage. A discharge valve or an intake valve of the internal combustion engine is opened or is brought into the opening position while extracting the fuel from the storage. An independent claim is also included for a device for draining a fuel storage of an injection system of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle.
