<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of deriving a direct mode motion vector of a bi-predictive block of a present picture. <P>SOLUTION: The method has a step of determining a list 0 motion vector of a co-located block of a bi-predictive picture; a step of selecting the list 0 motion vector as a motion vector for obtaining a motion vector of the bi-predictive block when the co-located block has the list 1 and list 0 motion vectors; a step of obtaining a direct mode motion vector of the bi-predictive picture on the basis of the selected motion vector; a step of obtaining a first time interval between the present picture and a first reference picture; a step of obtaining a second time interval between the first reference picture and a second reference picture; a step of scaling the selected motion vector of the co-located block of the reference picture on the basis of the first and second time intervals; and a step of executing bit calculation for a direct mode motion vector of the bi-predictive picture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
