PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst deterioration suppression device of an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing occurrence of exhaust pressure loss.

SOLUTION: This catalyst deterioration suppression device of an internal combustion engine is provided with an exhaust gas purifying catalyst device 14 arranged in an exhaust system, and a water spray device 16 that is structured to lower the temperature of the catalyst device by spray of water. The catalyst deterioration suppression device is also provided with a water spray prohibition means prohibiting the spray of water by the water spray device when the outlet temperature of the exhaust system is below a predetermined value.
