PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of detecting the speed or position or acceleration of a car, without installing a speed detecting member in a hoistway or on a guide rail. SOLUTION: A nonpermanent mark is applied to the guide rail 0102 by using a writing means 1201 arranged in the car 0105. The mark is detected by reading means 1202-a and 1202-b arranged in the car 0105, and the speed or the acceleration or the position of the car is detected by the output signal of the reading means 1202-a and 1202-b at that time. Since there is no need to arrange the speed detecting member in the hoistway or on the guide rail over the whole traveling passage of the car, procurement cost, installation cost and maintenance cost of the speed detecting member can be reduced.
