PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine capable of preventing data transmitted and received by facsimile communication from being tapped or altered. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine 101 converts a document to be transmitted into an encrypted IFP (Internet Facsimile Protocol) packet and the encrypted IFP packet is sent out to an IP network 103 when setting IP-FAX communication using IPsec. A facsimile machine 102 restores the received IFP packet to the original document when a network control part 205 receives the encrypted IFP packet transmitted from the facsimile machine 101. The restored document is encrypted by an encrypting part 209 and stored in an HD 210.
