An apparatus for the storage and removal of tough pastes, used in particular for dental purposes, which has a main part (1) with a trough (4) for receiving a strand (5) of a tough paste and a first cover (2) which fits on the main part (1) and which covers the strand (5) and is movable into a position in which one end of the strand (5) lies exposed. Said apparatus is characterized in that the apparatus and the trough (4) are designed to be circular, in that the first cover (2) is rotatably mounted on the main part (1) and has an opening (8) in the area of the trough, and in that a second cover (3) is provided which is rotatably mounted on the first cover (2) and has an opening (10) which can be aligned with the opening (8) of the first cover (2), wherein the trough (4) and the openings (8, 10) are arranged in the circumference area of the apparatus.
