Two-stage process to remove magnetite and copper deposits from an atomic power station steam generator using complexing agents

In a process to remove magnetite and copper deposits from a container e.g. an atomic power station steam generator, the container is first rinsed with an alkaline cleaning solution. The solution contains a complexing agent with iron ions forming a soluble complex, a reduction agent and an alkaline formation agent. In a second stage, a further complexing agent forming iron-III ions is added to the first-stage solution. The second-stage mixture is more stable than the first, and is then combined with an oxidising agent.
