PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem where in a clutch of a steering device for a vehicle employing a steer-by-wire system, if there is a relative rotational difference between clutch plates, the clutch does not instantaneously become a connection state. SOLUTION: A clutch is equipped with an inner peripheral surface rotating body 17 coupled with an end surface of an output pulley 15, an outer peripheral surface rotating body 18 rolling on the inner peripheral surface 17a of the inner peripheral surface rotating body 17, a pair of wedges 20 which is provided in an annular space 31 formed between a cylinder part 17b of the inner peripheral surface rotating body 17 and a circular hole of the outer peripheral surface rotating body 18 and where base end parts oppose to each other, a spring 21 for energizing to the direction separating the pair of wedges 20, a drive part 13a which is projectingly formed on the end surface of a connecting shaft 13 and inserted between the tip end part of the pair of wedges, and a lock pin 23 which can advance/retract from the end surface of the connecting shaft 13 to the base end part of the pair of wedges 20. Connection and separation of the clutch are performed by advancing and retracting of the lock pin 23, and the tip end of the lock pin 23 enters the recessed part 17c of the inner peripheral surface rotating body 17 in connecting of the clutch to prevent slippage of the clutch.
