PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition which can be suitably used for gently and mildly washing a material to be washed without excessively taking away an oil therefrom and having excellent finger combing during rinsing after washing and excellent smoothness, dry feeling, no stiffness etc., after drying. SOLUTION: The detergent composition comprises a copolymer containing a constituent unit corresponding to a cationic vinyl monomer (A) and a constituent unit corresponding to a specific vinyl monomer (B) having a hydroxy group or an amide bond and a specified anionic surfactant (D). In the copolymer, the ratio of the constituent unit corresponding to the cationic vinyl monomer (A) in the total constituent units composing the copolymer is 25-45 mol%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
