AMYLASE VARIANT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new variant of α-amylase.

SOLUTION: A variant of a parent α-amylase exhibits an amino acid sequence displaying at least 80% homology with the amino acid sequence of an α-amylase derived from Bacillus stearothermophilus, wherein the variant contains amino acid deficiency equivalent to that of R179 and G180 of the amino acid sequence of an α-amylase derived from Bacillus stearothermophilus, and shows at least one property selected from increased thermal stability, increased oxidation stability and lowered Ca2+dependency compared with the parent α-amylase.
