PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new AGE (advanced glycation end products) formation inhibitor having high AGE production inhibitory activity and useful as a prophylactic and/or curative agent for glomerular diseases, particularly as a pharmaceutical for preventing and/or treating diabetic nephropathy. SOLUTION: The new AGE formation inhibitor comprises, as active ingredient, a compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R1, R2, R3and R4are each H or a 1-6C alkoxy; and R5is H or a 1-6C alkyl), an acid addition salt thereof or a solvate thereof.
