PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive container having a heat insulating effect which container exerts a great heat insulating effect as a result of the expansion of a heat insulating layer when the container filled with a hot or cool food or drink is subjected to a minor process. SOLUTION: The container having the heat insulating effect has the heat insulating layer disposed along the periphery of the container, the heat insulating layer being made of a flexible material reduced in volume by pressurization or deaeration. The container filled with content is heated or cooled, and then the heat insulating layer is expanded by canceling pressurization or injecting a gas into the heat insulating layer to exert the heat insulating effect.
