The present invention includes various embodiments directed to apparatus and methods surrounding a fastener device (10). In particular embodiments, the fastener device (10) is a quick charging and discharging device that includes a solenoid (12), a fastener striker (22), a flash capacitor (100), and a control circuit (110). Other novel features of the fastener device (10) exist. In particular embodiments, the present invention also includes apparatus and methods related to deforming staples (80) for securing conduit and the like, and staple insulation (62, 64) and insulated staples (60) that may be discharged by the fastener device (10). The insulation may be provided in an ordinary staple strip (82) for use in the fastener device (10). Each insulation form (62) may include deformation voids (70) to assist the adaptation of the insulation about a target object that is being secured by the insulated staple.
