<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record bit streams at a variable bit rate in accordance with recordable capacity of a recording medium, such that image quality of an entire moving image becomes uniform and highest. <P>SOLUTION: A recording apparatus includes: a first encoder 51 which performs compression encoding on an input moving image signal to a first bit rate; a multiplexing circuit 53 which multiplexes, on first compression data, first encoded information corresponding to a compression factor during encoding due to the first encoder 51; a means 55 for writing multiplexed data on a recording medium 57; a means 59 for reproducing the multiplexed data from the recording medium 57; a demultiplexing circuit 200 which demultiplexes the reproduced multiplexed data into the first encoded information and the first compression data; second encoding means 205, 220 for generating second compression data of a variable bit rate on the basis of second encoded information from the demultiplexed first compression data; and a control circuit 210 which converts the first encoded information into second encoded information based on a target total data amount of the second compression data and applies the information to the second encoding means 220. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
