PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a vertical crusher effectively preventing abnormal vibration occurring during operation, and a control device suited to the control method. SOLUTION: Moisture content in raw material is detected in advance during operation of the vertical crusher 1, a vibration value is measured, and the moisture content in a range of the vibration value not exceeding an allowable range of the vertical crusher 1 is recorded as a boundary moisture content. During the control operation of the vertical crusher 1, the moisture content of the raw material charged into the vertical crusher 1 is measured. When the detected moisture content deviates from the range of the boundary moisture content stored in advance, abnormal vibration can be prevented by reducing the rotation speed of a turntable. The abnormal vibration of the vertical crusher liable to occur when crushing the raw material is predicted from the moisture content of the raw material, and is suppressed by adjusting the rotation speed of the turntable.
